Terms of Use
Plain language, kept up to date. Please read it alongside our other legal pages.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of cursorcustom.org (the “Site”), operated by Cursor Custom. By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What the Site provides
The Site publishes information, guides and comparisons about interactive mouse cursor effects, and links to the CursorX source code hosted on GitHub. The Site itself does not sell software, require registration or provide paid services.
2. The CursorX software and its license
The CursorX package that you download through links on the Site is created and owned by its author and distributed under the MIT License. Your use of that software is governed by the MIT License included in the package, not by these Terms. In summary, the MIT License allows you to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense and sell copies of the software, provided the copyright notice and permission notice are included in all copies or substantial portions. The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind.
Cursor Custom does not modify, repackage or host the downloadable archive. Download links point to GitHub’s archive service for the public repository.
3. Our content
The text, guides, images, illustrations, icons, page design and the Cursor Custom name and logo on this Site are owned by Cursor Custom unless stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.
You may:
- read, print and save pages for your personal, non-commercial reference;
- quote short passages with clear attribution and a link to the original page;
- share links to any page.
You may not, without written permission:
- republish entire guides or substantial portions of them on another website;
- use our images, icons or logo in a way that suggests endorsement;
- present our content as your own or remove attribution.
Short code snippets shown inside our guides may be used freely in your own projects.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers or related systems;
- interfere with the Site’s operation, including by overloading it with automated requests;
- scrape the Site at a rate that degrades service for other visitors;
- use the Site or its content for any unlawful purpose;
- misrepresent your affiliation with Cursor Custom in communications with others.
Reasonable automated access by search engines and research tools that respect our robots.txt file is welcome.
5. Your responsibility when using cursor effects
If you add cursor effects to a website you operate, you are responsible for that website, including its accessibility, performance and compliance with laws that apply to it. Our guides offer recommendations — such as respecting reduced-motion preferences and keeping native cursors over form fields — but following them is your choice, and you remain responsible for testing the result with your own audience.
6. Third-party links and services
The Site links to third-party websites, including GitHub, browser extension stores and official software sites such as nodejs.org. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party site is governed by that site’s own terms.
7. No warranties
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”. While we test our instructions carefully, software, operating systems and browsers change frequently, and we do not warrant that the information on the Site is complete, current or error-free, or that the Site will be available without interruption.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cursor Custom will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or profits, arising from your use of the Site, its content or any software linked from it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent the law allows.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Cursor Custom harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may update, reorganise or remove content at any time. We may also revise these Terms; the “Last updated” date above shows the current version. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
11. Governing principles
These Terms are interpreted in accordance with applicable law. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
12. Contact
