Privacy Policy
Plain language, kept up to date. Please read it alongside our other legal pages.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Cursor Custom (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit cursorcustom.org, how that information is used, and the choices you have. We have written it to be read, not skimmed past.
1. The short version
- We do not ask you to create an account and we do not run sign-up forms.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
- The site works without advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
- Downloads are served by GitHub, which has its own privacy policy.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
2. Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting servers keep standard access logs. When your browser requests a page, the server records technical details such as:
- your IP address;
- the date and time of the request;
- the page or file requested and the response code;
- the referring page, if your browser sends one;
- your browser type and operating system as reported in the user-agent string.
We use these logs to keep the site secure, diagnose errors such as broken links, and understand overall traffic levels. Logs are retained for no longer than 90 days unless they are needed to investigate abuse or a security incident.
3. Cookies and local storage
Cursor Custom does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The pages use no login sessions and no cookie banners because there is nothing to consent to. Our hosting or content-delivery provider may set strictly necessary security cookies, for example to protect against automated attacks. These do not identify you personally and are not used for marketing.
The interactive effects on our pages run entirely in your browser and do not send your pointer movements anywhere. They store nothing about you.
4. Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use that information only to read and answer your message, and to keep a record of the conversation in case you follow up. We do not add you to mailing lists. Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
5. Downloads and third-party services
The download buttons on this site link directly to GitHub, which hosts the CursorX source repository. When you click a download link, your browser connects to GitHub’s servers, and GitHub processes your request under the GitHub Privacy Statement. We do not receive information about who downloads the package.
Our pages load fonts, styles, scripts and images from our own domain. We do not embed third-party social widgets, video players or analytics scripts that would send your browsing data to other companies.
6. How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- deliver pages and keep them available and secure;
- detect and prevent abuse, scraping attacks and fraud;
- fix technical problems and improve page performance;
- respond to messages you send us.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website, and on your request when you contact us.
7. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us run the site, such as our hosting company, and only to the extent needed for that service. These providers are bound by contracts or terms that require them to protect the data. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Cursor Custom, our visitors or others.
8. International visitors
Our servers and providers may be located in countries other than your own. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on our providers’ standard safeguards, such as contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, and state privacy laws in the United States — you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- request a copy or correction of that information;
- ask us to delete it;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. Because we collect so little, the answer is often that we hold only server log entries tied to an IP address, which we can locate if you provide the address and approximate time of your visit.
10. Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general audience interested in web design and development. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to server logs is limited to the people who maintain the site. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information we handle.
12. Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes, such as adding an analytics service, will be described clearly at the top of the policy for at least 30 days.
13. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected]. More ways to reach us are listed on the contact page.
